5 on Friday | 1.24.20

Hello and Happy Friday!

I love 5 on Friday!

Here it goes:

1. Poor sweet Sophie got the flu and we were stuck at home Monday thru Wednesday. Luckily, it snowed (about a quarter inch) on Wednesday morning and it was a "snow day," so we were both only absent from work and school on Tuesday!

2. Before Soph got sick, were were able to go eat dinner at our friends' (like family) new diner! It is so cute and delicious. I love the decor and the old fashioned ice cream counter! My niece was our waitress and she did such a great job.

3. My mom took us to see Wicked for our Christmas gift. It was so fun! Mom and I had already seen it a few years ago, but the kids hadn't. Both of them loved it!

4. I have the sweetest friends. Literally, my friend who goes by Sweetie, is the sweetest (go figure). I was teaching last week and there was a knock on my classroom door. It was one of our amazing front office girls, and she handed me a box. Y'all. I cried. Of course I did! I always cry. HAHA.

5. Speaking of the Sweetest friend, she owns a boutique and I finally got to make a purchase! I've been eyeballing these pants since she opened! I got the shirt, too. My friend is a master seamstress, so she's going to hem the bottom of the pants for me before I wear them. I'll be the cutest teacher on the block in this outfit! :) *image from the dressing room

Well friends, there you have it. First 5 on Friday of 2020. Let's see how this year goes.

Five On Friday!!

ahhhh FRIDAY.
All the friYAY snaps, y'all. I love seeing my friends' pretty faces!! :)

This has been a crazy busy, but super fun week! I feel like I say that every week now. AND look at me, blogging multiple times in one week!

Fridays are my days off and I have been loving them. Coffee, catching up on my favorite blog posts.... I'll leave out the part about catching up on homework.

Five On Friday...

//ONE// Junior League has officially started up for the year and I am so so glad that I decided to stay in League! I am on the Project GEM committee and this week we had our first session. I failed so hard at finding someone to come speak but another girl on the committee came through and saved me. Her speaker was fabulous and I'm actually kind of glad I couldn't find someone since the man she brought in was so good. He taught the little girls about self defense and the dangers of abduction, and how to try to run away. SUCH GOOD info! We also had to officers from the FSPD come in and teach about internet safety, which was also SO GOOD. I was so proud to be a part of that even if I didn't get the speaker I intended. The women on my committee are super nice and I'm glad to get to know them better and make friends. Just another reason I love Fort Smith.

//TWO// Bible Journaling kicked off on Monday. At my church, St. John's Episcopal Church, we have "small groups ministries" (I actually think I call the small group something different every time, but there are so many KINDS of groups....). This year my Vino League is going on its 3rd year, and I'm starting a Bible journaling group. The turn out was small (me, Sophia, and one lady from church), but it will grow. I had a blast and so did Sophia and Mariko. It is a fun way to grow our relationships with each other and also grow our connection to Christ.

//THREE// I did really well sticking to "clean" eating and smaller portions. Well, with the exception of last night. I took my lunch every day to work and ate really well for all other meals. Today while the kids are in school I'm going to hit up the local health food store for some ACV and a couple bottles of booch. I'm torn between trying new flavors that I may not like OR going to Squash Blossom because they're the only place that consistently carry my fave... GT's strawberry serenity. If I go to 3 different stores I can get all 3 of my favorite flavors... they're all over town though and I just doubt that will happen!

//FOUR// My 2017 Erin Condren Life Planner came in yesterday!! I am SO excited! I won't elaborate much on this because I added photos to my story on both insta & snap. Just know its pink with flamingos and my name looks adorable and I got the rose gold coil. L O V E

//FIVE// Music on the lawn at the Clayton House was so nice last night! The Sara Lyons Band played and they were so good! My friends from work came out and I saw some other friends around too. I brought the wine and April brought the cheese plate and we had a nice time. The weather was amazing and the Clayton House was, as always, perfect. I credit that to Julie, if you ever go there ask for her! She is such a special lady.

Mid-Summer update

Summer time, and the livin' is easy...

I just finished up my first semester back in college! WHEW! It ended last Friday and my new semester began on Monday.. yes, the 4th! I knew it was coming but I think I wasn't prepared to jump right from one subject to another! I'm enjoying "being a student" again, but I'm also just so so ready for next spring so I can graduate already!

June 29th was my 32nd birthday. THIRTY-TWO, y'all. Life is crazy when you think about it. I can not believe I'm thirtyfreakingtwo years old. I had a great day, Andy and the girls got me a Lumee case for my iPhone (seriously, coolest thing everrrrrr!), and we had sushi with friends. Once we got home there was a slow trickle of people stopping by for drinks and it was just really wonderful. The weather was great to sit on the deck and enjoy the breeze! Not a very common June evening down here in Arkansas!

We had a nice July 4th weekend.. kind of. We went to my parents' house Friday evening and stayed until Sunday evening. We took our kids and my nieces to the lake, we swam, my brothers grilled, my mom made a birthday cake for all our June birthdays (5 of us have June birthdays!). Sunday night we stopped at my grandparents' for dinner and some visiting time. There is never enough time when we go back "home." I always wish for more precious minutes with the ones that matter so much.

I love watching the fireworks on Greers Ferry Lake every year with my whole family!!

both selfies were taken in the dark with the lumee case!! LOVE IT!

We have had a pretty fabulous summer so far. It has been busy with work and school for me and Andy, and t-ball, tennis, and playdates for the girls.

I do plan to be better at updating this little blog! I have a few posts in mind (including one very fabulous tween-brunch-party that any and every 12 year old girl will love!) and the school year will begin soon! Sophia is going into kindergarten so I will be making creative lunches again! Olivia will be in junior high, so she's out for the whole "my mom packs my lunch" thing.

My new job is incredible and I really like it. I work with some wonderful ladies (they even got me flowers on my birthday! They barely know me! It was so, so sweet!!) and the work is fun and rewarding. I wish I could say the same about homework and college!! haha!

Ok, time to go get things ready for dinner. Tonight we are grilling chicken and ka-bobs. We have half a watermelon left and I can't wait to eat it! hashtag summer 2 k sixteen... y'all! :)

Oh, Layla! Our Adventures with the Elf On The Shelf

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a merry and bright holiday! We sure did. I can't express the excitement and sleeplessness in this house on Christmas eve.... you'd think I mean the kids, right? Nope. ME! I get so excited. I woke up at 3, and couldn't stand it... I had the kids out of bed at 4am and opening gifts by 430. My poor husband. He thinks I'm crazy! Maybe I am. :) I'm totally ok with that, though.

The week after Thanksgiving, we purchased our very first Elf On The Shelf. I had resisted this thing for years- its so creepy, right!? I was so wrong. I love that elf probably as much as our kids do. Olivia named her Layla- so cute- and Sophia calls her Waywa. She was a mischievous little thing, and we were all so very sad to see her go back to the North Pole with Santa.

Here are a few photos from Layla's adventures in the Poirier household!

Layla TP'd our tree!

glitter and streamers from staying up all night partying at the North Pole

Caught in the act: roasting snowman marshmallows

Such a trouble maker!

channeling her inner ballerina

the night before Olivia's first ortho appointment- a friendly reminder to brush her teeth!

a super creepy elf friend Olivia found at TJ Maxx. now THIS is a creepy elf!

The morning after Olivia questioned Layla, and Santa's, reality. :( I don't know if she will believe next year. And that makes me sad. :(

Girls' night bubble bath with the La La Loopsy girls.

A new Christmas tree showed up at the foot of the stairs... with a ton of cotton ball "snow."

Trying to get the best view in the house...

She got a little tangled up...

A good rule to live by, Layla.

Who doesn't love B&J's ice cream!?

A new wreath :)

Layla LOVES lunchbox love!!! :)

She was ready to make christmas candy!

Another shot from the TP Tree incident.

Enjoying some chooclate!

There's that creepy elf again!

A view from the tangly stairs

Christmas eve morning- Layla had a gift for the kids. Matching Christmas pajamas. A Poirier family tradition!

I know there aren't enough photos here for the entire month of December! We travel quite a bit during the holiday month, and Layla didn't travel with us. The holidays are always so hectic, fun, and crazy!

One weekend we took the kids to Branson and saw the Christmas show at the Dixie Stampede! None of us had ever been and we had a blast. We also got to go to Silver Dollar City, I had never been at Christmas time and that was so fun. Sophia LOVES rides- the swings were her favorite.

I hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as we have enjoyed ours!! Stay tuned- after the New Year I'll be giving away a set of LUNCHBOX LOVE, just like the little note Layla used up there!

Have a safe and joyous New Years Eve!! <3
